Trusted Across The
Transport Industry

Since 1997

For almost 30 years, drivers, operators, Transport Managers and fleets have trusted Enterprise for compliant, government-recognised training that keeps them qualified, road-legal and moving forward.

Enterprise Transport Training LGV

Keeping the UK’s transport industry moving

Who we are

We started in 1997 in Trafford Park, Manchester as Enterprise LGV Tuition — founded to help tackle a driver shortage that new licence rules were about to make worse.

The business has grown considerably since then, but our purpose has stayed the same: to provide training that helps people gain qualifications, stay compliant and progress within the transport industry.

Whether someone is attending their first professional driving course, renewing an existing qualification or preparing to become a Transport Manager, we understand that training is about more than passing an exam. It can mean a new job, a better income, greater responsibility or the next step in a long career.

Training that supports drivers, strengthens careers and helps businesses stay compliant.

Enterprise Transport Training — since 1997
Almost 30 years

Our Journey

From a single training site in Manchester to the UK’s largest online transport training provider — here’s how three decades unfolded.

1997

Where it began

Enterprise LGV Tuition is founded in Trafford Park, Manchester — set up to tackle a driver shortage that new licence rules were about to make worse.

2000

Room to grow

We move to a one-acre site in Ancoats and launch forklift and HIAB training. 25 years on, Ancoats is still home to our practical training.

2001

ADR & DGSA

We acquire our Chadderton, Oldham classroom to support growing dangerous goods training — still used for ADR courses today.

2006

Transport Manager

Quarterly Transport Manager courses begin at Chadderton, and the business incorporates as Enterprise LGV Tuition Limited.

2009

Driver CPC accredited

We gain accreditation to deliver the newly introduced Driver CPC qualification.

2012

More capacity

A new site in Bredbury, Stockport adds room for 40 more candidates a day, plus forklift training.

2015

A new name

After a busy 2014 CPC cycle we expand our centre network — to better reflect the new business, we changed the name to Enterprise Transport Training Limited, our trading name ever since.

2016

Going national

New centres open in Warrington, Halifax, Leeds, Birmingham and Worcester.

2019

20 centres nationwide

Our network reaches 20 classrooms, from Gloucester in the south to Preston in the north. That September, 1 in every 19 UK drivers completing Driver CPC trained with us.

2020

Online, almost overnight

COVID changes everything. At the end of March we launch online Driver CPC, with online Transport Manager and remote ADR following soon after.

2021

Remote becomes the norm & LGV tests change

Online delivery spreads across our whole range. Our Manchester site becomes one of the first in the UK accredited by the DVSA for the new LGV Module 3b test.

2022

The UK’s largest online provider

We become an RTITB Forklift Instructor Training Centre and complete our shift from the UK’s largest in-classroom provider to its largest online one.

2023–24

Nationwide capacity

We grow our instructor team across the UK for online and onsite training, winning work from operators let down elsewhere and reaching around 10% of the Driver CPC market.

2025

New CPC options & more classrooms

We launch Return to Driving and a full range of National Driver CPC courses, and expand our Road Haulage Transport Manager classroom network with new centres in Colchester, Gloucester, Doncaster, Maidstone, Warrington and West Bromwich — plus an additional Passenger centre in West Bromwich.

2026

More choice than ever

Our national presence lets us add the Relaxed Transport Manager course and a popular new programme of weekend ADR courses.

The driver shortage is not new

Enterprise was born out of a problem the industry still recognises today. In 1997, changes to licence category entitlements — including the removal of direct progression from a car to an LGV1 licence — threatened to deepen an already growing driver shortage. Richard Davies, a local employer, and Robert Smith, a petrol tanker driver, launched Enterprise LGV Tuition to help meet that need, training new drivers from a site in Trafford Park, Manchester.

The move to a larger site

The business grew quickly. In 2000 we moved to a one-acre site in Ancoats and launched forklift and HIAB training — more than 25 years later, Ancoats is still home to our LGV, forklift and HIAB training. In 2001 we acquired classroom premises in Chadderton, Oldham to support our growing ADR and DGSA courses, which still run there today. In 2006 quarterly Transport Manager courses began at Chadderton, and the business incorporated as Enterprise LGV Tuition Limited.

Building a national network

In 2009 we gained accreditation to deliver the newly introduced Driver CPC qualification, and in 2012 we added a site in Bredbury, Stockport for extra classroom and forklift capacity. Demand grew so quickly that by summer 2014 we were running temporary ‘pop-up’ CPC venues across the North West. After that busy cycle we decided to build a broader network of training centres — and it was clear the name no longer fit. In late 2015 we adopted Enterprise Transport Training Limited, our trading name ever since. Centres opened in Warrington, Halifax, Leeds, Birmingham and Worcester in 2016, and by the end of 2019 our network had grown to 20 classrooms from Gloucester in the south to Preston in the north. That September, one in every 19 drivers completing Driver CPC anywhere in the UK did it with Enterprise.

Then COVID changed everything

We had planned to expand to 30 centres. Instead, at the end of March 2020 we launched online Driver CPC courses, with online Transport Manager and remote ADR training following soon after. Candidates and employers quickly came to value the flexibility of training from home over Zoom. Where our physical classrooms had been within reach of around a quarter of the UK population, virtual classrooms opened Enterprise up to candidates across the whole country — at prices well below those a physical venue demands. From the start of COVID to today, we have gone from running the UK’s largest in-classroom course programme to becoming the UK’s largest provider of online transport training.

Never losing our roots

Going online never meant leaving practical training behind. In November 2021, following changes to LGV testing, our Manchester site was one of the first in the UK granted DVSA accreditation to deliver the Module 3b off-road manoeuvres element of the driving test. In 2022 we became an RTITB Forklift Instructor Training Centre.

Where we are today

Through 2023 and 2024 we expanded our instructor team across the UK, adding online capacity and the ability to train onsite for companies that needed it. That commitment — often winning work from operators who had been let down by other providers — took us to around 10% of the UK Driver CPC market, a share we have maintained through high quality at competitive prices. In 2025 we introduced Return to Driving and National Driver CPC courses, and in 2026 we added the Relaxed Transport Manager course and a popular new programme of weekend ADR courses.

30 years have seen a lot of change. With the pace of technological development it is inevitable that future change will happen more frequently — and at Enterprise we have the skill, the ability and, most importantly, the desire to harness it to keep improving.

Largest trainer of Transport Managers

Transport Manager CPC

We train more than 1,000 Transport Managers and trainee Transport Managers through a mix of our Self Study, Online and Classroom courses, as well as our OLAT and TM Refresher courses. Booking the CPC courses was simple and logging on was easy. We all expect these courses to be boring, but Pete made it far more interesting than I thought — a real human touch.
