Enterprise Transport Training runs ADR courses for drivers across Newcastle, Gateshead and the North East. Your ADR training is delivered online over Zoom, and you then attend our Newcastle centre in person to sit your ADR examinations on the final day, with results available instantly after each exam.
The Newcastle centre is located in Bensham, Gateshead, just south of Newcastle city centre, and is easily accessible for drivers based in Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, Durham and the surrounding North East area. As the course training is completed online, you only need to travel to Newcastle for one day to complete your practical demonstrations and ADR examinations, making the centre a practical option for drivers travelling from further afield.

ADR training is completed online before your exam date. You attend this venue in person for your ADR examinations only, on the final day of your course. Full confirmation, including course details, structure and instructions on how to attend online, will be sent once you book.

How to find us
By car
Bensham is on the Gateshead side of the Tyne, immediately south-west of Gateshead town centre. Sidney Grove is off the residential streets between Askew Road and Bensham Road.
- From Newcastle city centre: cross the Redheugh Bridge (A189) and continue up Askew Road towards Bensham, turning into the residential streets for Sidney Grove.
- From the A1 Western Bypass: leave at the Teams/Gateshead exits for the A184/A692, heading towards Bensham and following local signs.
- From Sunderland and Durham: take the A1(M)/A1 north, exiting for Gateshead town centre and heading west into Bensham.
By rail
Newcastle Central station is around a mile and a half away across the river, with LNER, CrossCountry and local services from across the country; Gateshead Interchange on the Tyne and Wear Metro is closer still. From either, the venue is a short taxi ride, or a Metro-and-walk via Gateshead. Check the latest timetables on National Rail or Nexus before travelling.
By bus
Go North East buses run frequently between Gateshead Interchange, Bensham and Newcastle. Routes and frequencies change, so please check the operator or Traveline before travelling on your exam day.
